The Effect of Acculturative Stress On Depression and Drinking Problems among Chinese Students in Korea

Abstract
This study was investigated on the effect of the acculturative stress on depression and drinking problem among Chinese students in Korea. Purposive sampling was used to obtain 342 chinese students who were in universities on Seoul and Chung-Cheong areas. The major findings were as follows. First, the mean of acculturative stress was 2.27, which was in the intermediate level. Second, the 50.6% of the participants were in the depressive state. Third, 42.9% of male was a problem drinkers. Fourth, acculturative stress had an effect on depression, but it had no effect on drinking problems. Based on the results, practical implications for helping cultural adaptation and psychological well-being of Chinese students were discussed.
